The sixth in the series of Dakk Waggitt mini toons is obviously a take-off of the Terminator movies. If it's not obvious, something has gone dreadfully wrong and I'll be quick to blame the Platypus! [Comment at the Toon It Up Forum]
Over the weekend, I did some spot drawings of Dakk that will be included in the next issue of Brian Maze's Freak Central due to be out by the end of April. When you get a chance, check out his work. Great stuff!

This Modern Daze strip was featured in yesterday's Indy.com Magazine and will be online soon at IndyWebComics.com. This one was actually recycled from a single-panel cartoon I did quite a few years ago. I still think it's one of the best jokes I ever came up with and deserved to be seen by a new audience. So there!

I finally finished my cartoon/caricature of Simple Plan bassist David Desrosiers, so here he is in all his goth glory. I've been pretty busy lately so the last two members of the band could still be a while. Have patience though, I will get to them.

In honor of the upcoming and long-awaited fourth Indiana Jones flick, here's Dakk Waggitt as Platypus Jones. This is another piece I started playing around with several years ago and never finished. I'm glad I finally got around to it as it turned out great. Of course, that's just my opinion...

As a norm I don't do caricatures (a few band cartoons have been the exception), but while I was watching Two And A Half Men on TV the other night I thought that Charlie Sheen might have enough distinctive features for me to do him justice. I think it turned out pretty good. Let me know what you think.

This Toon It Up strip was featured in yesterday's Indy.com Magazine and online today at IndyWebComics.com. Ironically, I did the comic without ever having listened to The Black Crowes' new album at all. I'm not going to apologize though and, hopefully, I won't get sued by the band. After all, it's just Marshall's opinion not mine, right?

The Incredible Hulk has nothing on this guy! Watch out for The Incredible Dakk, the Platypus with the anger-control issue!

This is a larger piece I was commissioned to do for a Nascar-loving woman's 50th birthday! It looked particularly good framed and matted in black.

Here's my second Simple Plan cartoon. This one is of lead guitarist Jeff Stinco.

Today's Dakk Waggitt entry is the third in the series featuring our prolific platypus pal. I'm a big fan of the old Universal monster movies so you'll probably see more of this type coming up in the future. Hopefully at some point, you will also see these pieces as some type of collector cards and/or in mini book form. Until then, enjoy this Dracula spoof.

Here's a quick pencil sketch I did of Dakk Waggitt at lunch today. I'll be using the inked copy for another little mini design that I thought of a couple of days ago. I'll post it when I'm finished and you can compare.

Here's a pencil study my son Kyle did this week. Great stuff, I think. You can see more of his work at his DeviantArt site.

I just finished three new Toon It Up comic strips for Indy.com Magazine and saw that I had started this one a couple of months ago and never completed it for some reason or another. Needless to say, I finished it and here it is. I won't go into my thoughts behind the Robert Plant/Alison Krauss album though. I think, as shown by Mike and Marshall, that you either love it or hate it. Enjoy and feel free to check out the entire run of the Toon It Up strip when you get a chance!

This is a cartoon I did of Simple Plan drummer Chuck Comeau. I'm working on the rest of the band as well. As I was preparing it to put up on this site though, I also noticed that it looks a lot like my fellow Indy cartoonist Lee Cherolis. |
