Summit City Comic Con Less Than A Week Away!Posted by Ron on May 8, 2012 ![]()
I've fallen way behind as far as updating the site goes but after this weekend, I'll be posting pics from my last few events. Saturday, of course, is the Summit City Comic Con in Fort Wayne, IN. I'll have my three books for sale as well as my brand-spankin' new Dakk Waggitt "I, Platypus" mini prints. They turned out fantastic so I can't wait to show them off! I'll also be doing sketch commissions. If you're going to be in attendance, make sure to stop by and see me at D-13!

Somehow it escaped me, but my latest book, My Best Friend is an Idiot! which is available in the Toon It Up Store as well as on Lulu.com, was reviewed in last month's issue of HM Magazine, where the strip Life As We Know It appeared for a few years in the late '90s! Thanks for the nice words, HM!

With everything I've been up to lately, I've been remiss on posting a new logo that I recently designed for the upcoming Petra fan convention called PC3: Pethead Convention 3: Indy. It will be taking place in Indianapolis on May 5, 2012 and will feature special concert performances by John Schlitt, The Voice of Petra, GHF, featuring original Petra members Greg Hough, Bill Glover and John DeGroff and singer-songwriter Sam Scales. You can find more about it at Rob Pugh's PC3 Blog. Rob's also the founder of the Facebook-based Classic Christian Rock Preservation Society as well as half the inspiration behind my new book My Best Friend is an Idiot!. But don't let that stop you from checking out his blog and Facebook group!

The complete 20th Anniversary collection of the Rock Talk and Life As We Know It comic strips, both popular in the mid-90s. Join Rob & Ron in Rock Talk as they tackle "serious" subjects like whether or not rockers should wear plaid or get tattoos. Then hang with them again in the Christian-themed Life As We Know It as they freak out at paying $6.66 for a CD or glow with pride at inventing a Christian Music action figure with Kung Fu grip. Through it all, the author gives a detailed history of the creation of the comics and individual commentary on all the strips. Enjoyment for the whole family! You can get your own copy for only $14.99 here and if you use the coupon code COUNTDOWN you can get 25% off that price!

Back in July, I was contacted by Melanie, a girl from Germany, who had plans to see the band Simple Plan in Eindhoven. She asked if she could get a hi-res copy of the cartoon I did of SP drummer Chuck Comeau a couple years ago to make into a T-shirt for him and the band to sign. I happily obliged and was surprised by this picture she sent of her posing with Chuck. I'm glad I was able to play a small part of her amazing time meeting the guys.
I'm also hard at work trying to finish my latest book featuring my Rock Talk and Life As We Know It comic strips. I hope to have it available early next month.

The Blob Shack, a blog that describes itself as "An odd collection of horror novels, underground books and experimental animation" featured Hello Cruel World today. Thanks, Blob! I appreciate the help spreading the word about my book!
A couple of months ago, Nicole Palmer with the Hendricks County Icon interviewed me about my All Tooned Up book and my cartooning in general. The resulting article is now featured in the November issue of the publication and is out around town as well as online. Check it out when you get a chance.
